Saint Francis Healthcare System employees, leadership team members and Medical Partners demonstrated they know how to care for their own in 2016 by contributing a record amount of money during the Power of One campaign.
The Saint Francis Family contributed $250,300, including $59,000 by Medical Partners and $52,000 by leadership team members to surpass their respective $50,000 goals. Approximately 37 percent of overall donations targeted the Caring Fund, which assists members of the Saint Francis Family who experience an unforeseen emergency or crisis. A quarter of donations went toward the Area of Greatest Need and 17 percent to the CancerCare Fund. Overall, the employee funds raised directly helped others in need via five internal and external funds:
- CancerCare Fund
- The Caring Fund
- Catholic Charities of Southeast Missouri
- Sister Esther Fund
- The local United Way chapter
- Area of Greatest Need
Contributions are made through payroll deductions, one-time contributions, vacation time, cash or credit card. An employee steering committee, guided by Saint Francis Healthcare System Foundation, approved 53 applications for assistance through the Caring Fund for a total of $91,100.
Employees at any of Saint Francis’s regional locations, as well as the main Saint Francis Medical Center campus are eligible to apply for assistance. Saint Francis Healthcare System Foundation has distributed more than $1 million in the history of the Caring Fund.
